GR YARIS: Changes to the Rear View

Rikutsu-Kone-Taro made some change on my GR YARIS diagonal rear appearance.

I want to describe my feelings of disappointment about the appearance of the GR Yaris, especially its diagonal rear view, on this page.

Please note that this disappointment is only the inner thoughts of Rikutsu-Kone-Taro, so if you are someone who likes the overall look of the GR Yaris, please feel free to skip this page.

Immediately after the delivery of the GR Yaris, I was so happy that I drove around with childlike excitement, and I didn’t pay much attention to the exterior. It wasn’t until I had driven about 2000 km after the purchase that Rikutsu-Kone-Taro began to feel a sense of discomfort with the rear view of this car (details can be found in Source of Concern in Diagonal Rear View.

Because of this discomfort, I couldn’t admire the GR Yaris’s rear view with awe.

In search of the cause of this discomfort and a solution, I spent my days pondering and groaning.

Considering the storage size of the tower parking, I didn’t want to add too many additional items. Also, I didn’t want to add original parts that would become unnecessary because of storage issues.

I had been thinking about how to make the GR Yaris look cool for a long time. Then, one day, an idea suddenly flashed in my mind.

Seriously thinking, humans are beings who find solutions.

Based on that idea, I asked GR Garage to make changes to the rear view.

First, here is the before photo of the rear view(Photo1).

And herer is after-change (Photo2).

There are mainly two changes. The original exterior parts were painted to match the body color, including the rear spoiler, diffuser, side marker garnish, and antenna cover (four points in total). Additionally, a TOM’S rear bumper duct was newly installed.

As a result, the rear view like the photo above was created.

I sincerely apologize to the GR Yaris designer, but I feel that it has become much cooler than the normal version.

No sense of customization. It feels as if this car was originally designed and made this way.

Rikutsu-Kone-Taro drives this car maybe once a week at most, and since I am sitting in the driver’s seat, I don’t really need to care about the rear view. However, the normal rear view was the first thing that caught my eye when the door of the mechanical parking lot opened, so I couldn’t stand it anymore…

Anyway, I wanted to make it look cool in a natural way. Making it flashy with a sense of customization might attract attention from law enforcement.

By the way, regarding the painting, it cost about 200,000 yen for the removal and installation of each part, and the rear bumper duct required about 4 to 5 thousand yen for the parts and installation.

In terms of visual impact, safety, and inspection compliance, it feels cost-effective.

I hope this can be of some reference.

That’s all for this time.
