When Rikutsu-Kone-Taro painted the wheels of the GR Yaris in the body color , it makes the car look incredibly cool, so I wanted to share my thoughts on the matter.
Last year (2021), Rikutsu-Kone-Taro had GR Garage paint the door mirrors and rear garnish in the Platinum White Pearl Mica, matching the body color. The results exceeded expectations (details can be found by clicking “here”), so this time, I had the wheels painted in a similar fashion.
The finished look is as shown in the photos.
It may be hard to discern in the photos, but the wheels were painted white on top of the original black coating, resulting in a slightly different shade compared to the body. However, that adds to the uniqueness. If you consider it as originality, it becomes quite intriguing and has a deep sense of flavor.

I believe I’m not the only one who feels that the overall appearance of the car is elevated when the wheels match the body color, as shown in the photos above.
So, why stick with OEM wheels? Well, it mainly had to do with space issues in the monthly parking lot I rent and the proportions of the car’s face. Considering these factors, OEM wheels with the same dimensions turned out to be the most convenient choice, leading to the decision to paint them.
By the way, this time, I was able to obtain a set of new OEM wheels and tires at a very reasonable price, so I painted these new ones.
As for the previously worn OEM wheels, I’m considering painting them in a different color or using them for winter tires to have some fun. However, when doing that, even though it will cost some money, I think it’s better to properly remove the original paint, expose the metal, and then apply the necessary undercoating for better color saturation. That’s the plan for the next time.
The satisfaction of seeing my special car slowly come together is quite rewarding.
It feels good.
