GR Yaris: Insights from Quick Shifter(Part3)

Continuing from “Insights from Quick Shifter Part1 and Part2, I went for my familiar winding road this morning as well, so I’d like to share my insights from there.

To start with the conclusion, there have been no negatives so far in installing the quick shifter (hereinafter QS) and clutch stopper (hereinafter CS). It’s all positives.

When I installed the bucket seats, there was a negative aspect of worsened ingress and egress (and giving up on the airbag function of the seats), but the positives outweighed the negatives, so it was okay overall.

In the case of QS + CS, speaking only for “Rikutsu-Kone-Taro’s” case, it’s really all positives. I can’t find any negatives at all.

Certainly, shortening both the shift and clutch strokes seems to make driving a lot more fun.

I’ve gradually become more accustomed to shifting from higher gears to 2nd gear, and I no longer feel as much discomfort as I did yesterday.

The clutch now fully disengages just a tiny bit before reaching the point of maximum depression, so it’s easier to find the point where it starts to meet, saving me the hassle.

And the subtle use of half-clutch has become more convenient.

Today (August 8, 2021) it rained, and there were quite a few deep puddles all over the road. The conditions were less than ideal compared to yesterday.

In such situations, having easy access to half-clutch makes driving much easier.

The driving position feels so perfect that I almost didn’t want to get out of the car even after parking it.

That’s all for this time.
