Even if one doesn’t encounter illness or accidents, people inevitably age and die. However, in a life spanning several decades, one will inevitably face the terrifying situation of becoming bored with life if they don’t regularly start new things.
Additionally, as one gets older, those around them no longer tolerate the same behaviors as they did when they were younger.
Therefore, it becomes necessary to fundamentally shift one’s way of living, while considering skillfully how to die, in order to live a life without becoming bored day by day.
This shift in lifestyle is what I, Rikutsu-Kone-Taro, refer to as Second Life.
When considering at what age Second Life begins, it is important to first clarify the concept of what Second Life is.
On this page, I would like to present my subjective views, full of prejudice and discretion, on the concept of Second Life mentioned in related content within this site, according to ‘Rikutsu Kone Taro.’
First, let me state the conclusion. Rikutsu-Kone-Taro believes that Second Life begins around the age of 50 to 60. This age range is considered the last period where the accumulation of knowledge and experience, social trust, and economic power (which we will refer to as ‘life power’ on this page) exceeds physiological decline.
In other words, in terms of age, the period from 50 to 60 is when one can perform at their best in life.
Rikutsu-Kone-Taro believes that Second Life begins from this period onwards.
After that, there is a period where physiological decline can be compensated for by improving one’s life power.
This would be the era commonly referred to as retirement. With the wisdom and ingenuity accumulated up to that point, one can compensate for the decline in physical strength and lead an independent daily life. Since one can go out whenever they like, they can also maintain their social life.
If a leisurely life of ease is truly possible, it would be during this period. By the way, Rikutsu-Kone-Taro believes that a leisurely life of ease is extremely difficult, but that’s a story for another time.
As life power declines and physiological decline cannot be compensated for, one becomes unable to maintain their daily life without the help of others. From this point onwards, one becomes unable to act as they please, and their actions are restricted by the wishes of their family.
Furthermore, as life power continues to decline, physiological decline accelerates, cognitive and judgmental abilities diminish, and one becomes unable to wake up or walk on their own, and eventually becomes unable to eat.
Then, they receive nutritional support through intravenous drips or gastric tubes from outside, eventually leading to a state where only limited brain activity, heartbeat, and respiratory movement remain.
And finally, their heartbeat stops, leading to what is commonly known as death.
It would be appropriate to consider Second Life as beginning around the age of 50 to 60, when a person can perform at their best in life and continuing until death.
The period in which one can perform at their best in life is at most ten years. If short, it may be only a few years.
Whether to consider this period as the beginning of Second Life or as the end of First Life is a matter of personal preference, but what should be noted is that improvement in performance cannot be expected in Second Life.
Rikutsu-Kone-Taro believes that it is strategic to prepare for one’s Second Life by considering the best measures during the peak performance period.
Of course, things may not unfold as planned, but there is a much higher likelihood of living a far more human Second Life than living aimlessly without thinking.
Therefore, the period of peak performance in life is considered the beginning of Second Life.
It is all for now.
