GR Yaris Interior Customization: Prioritizing Feel, Texture, and Atmosphere”

For over three years, I, Rikutsu-Kone-Taro, have meticulously worked on creating the perfect interior atmosphere and driving position for my 2020 GR Yaris RZHP. Paying particular attention to the textures and feel of every part that touches the driver’s body, I’ve curated an interior that combines comfort and functionality.

While the driving position is paramount, the tactile feel, appearance, and overall ambiance of the interior are equally crucial. Sitting in the seat, gripping the steering wheel, and surveying the interior should evoke a blend of relaxation, tension, and motivation.

I appreciate the black-themed interior of the GR Yaris as it minimizes distractions from stray lights, allowing better focus on external visual information. When installing the roll bar, I ensured the black headliner remained to prevent unwanted light reflections.

The dark-colored A-pillar trim is particularly beneficial, as a white A-pillar would reflect harsh sunlight onto the windshield, making intersections challenging. (Related page here)

Overall, I believe I’ve achieved an interior, control setup, and driving position that suit my preferences perfectly (Photo 1).

However, this perspective is solely from the driver’s seat. I haven’t had anyone else drive the GR Yaris with me in the passenger seat (which I’ve removed) or the back seat, so I’m unaware of any flaws from those viewpoints (Photo 2).

But that’s perfectly fine. If I can’t see it, it’s not a problem. Everyone has their own strong preferences, especially those who install aftermarket parts in their cars. Others might not like my GR Yaris’s driving position or interior atmosphere, but that’s also fine. Preferences vary, and everyone should pursue their own.

My GR Yaris features an Alcantara-wrapped, slightly smaller steering wheel, a compact metal shift knob, a bucket seat that firmly supports the body, and a shortened clutch stroke for optimal comfort and drivability. Although neither the steering wheel nor the full bucket seat are high-end brands, they feel luxurious to me.

I intend to use the savings from not buying high-end brands for other hobbies. Feeling connected to the car through my body and limbs while navigating winding roads is an unbeatable experience.

This was a story about the importance of feel, texture, and ambiance in crafting your ideal car.

That’s all for now.
